Statement
In my works I play with forms, shapes and objects which reflect life. One of my first collections was called Five Senses – an eye, an ear, a nose and a finger made from porcelain for wearing as brooches, and a nose necklace.
I analyze the meaning of accessories, the very purpose of adorning the body and clothing. Jewellery's basic purpose is to adorn and beautify, but is it necessary at all? I ask simple questions that require complex answers. Should jewellery talk about something deeper? What is the significance of jewellery - to draw attention to the piece? To the wearer? Or to draw attention by questioning what the wearer is trying to say by wearing it?
I always pay attention to aesthetics, details and quality. I play with the line between beauty and ugliness. The use of shocking subjects is important, but it should have aesthetic benefits as well. I find it important that apparel should link to an idea, and each part of an outfit should link to the other parts. It's not a story but a symbol, a character sequence. I work very intuitively, ideas usually come from observation of beauty in everyday life. My work captures viewers minds, sometimes it shocks the audience or even creates disgust, questioning the meaning of apparel.
